Winter Light

 The beauty of the desert and the sea is outstanding in the Winter time. Cold winds blow and reveal treasures on the dunes, as the restless waves carve the beach, A constant sculpting and shifting, yet the desert remains. Such a lesson in life!

 


As the solstice approached and came with a new sun and light, we all look forward into a year of manifestation and collaboration. One productive and creative time to share with others in joy!







At Rancho la Duna we will continue to host our famous Stargazing nights, as well as serve as hosts for other groups and families looking for an intimate and undisturbed time together, in a home away from home.

May 2015 be a year of more peace and more understanding among humans and all living creatures!

It was a beautiful gathering of individuals both teachers and students, coming together to embrace the earth, renew their souls, and express themselves through art, sensory awareness, Qigong, and nature. This event inspired me to come up with this simple list of 5 ways one can deepen their connection to nature. 1. Wake up early to watch the sunrise. La Duna is a perfect setting for this wonderful experience. Each day wake up before dawn and walk over the magnificent dunes to watch the glorious sunrise over the mountains and water. Sit there in silence and with gratitude for a rich experience. Thank the sun for giving us a new day and for shining so brightly upon us. Listen to the waves lap against the shore and watch the frigatebirds soar high above like dancers in the sky.

Inner-Connection: Journey Into The Soul Of Nature Scholarship Award Winner We are pleased to announce our scholarship award winner for the upcoming November retreat Inner-Connection: Journey into the Soul of Nature, held at La Duna Centro Ecológico November 2-6, 2016.  Luis Tentindo is an interdisciplinary artist and arts educator focusing on the crossovers between movement, puppetry and visual art. From 1994 to 2008 he danced in several renowned NYC-based contemporary dance companies. Luis has participated in residencies at Bogliasco, The MacDowell Colony, and Djerassi. His original puppet-theater work was presented at St. Ann’s Warehouse, The Theater for the New City and Dixon Place in NYC, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara. He also presented performances at Skirball Cultural Center, Fowler Ethnographic Museum, and at XFest! (SIUE). His work has received support from the Jim Henson Foundation and he recently presented a workshop at the National Puppetr
