At times we may find ourselves running around in circles, in a hurry, following a routine we have acquired and sustain as a way of life. Yet, even though we are busy, we can feel we are not using our energy and time on a meaningful way to contribute to our own lives, or to the world that continues to be suffocated by our insatiable greed to have things.

Something inside and outside of us calls our attention, it bothers us to pay attention. Our world and our own self feel unhealthy, uncomfortable, angry, depressed, unstable, the calling urges us to find a way to be better, healthier, more content, more creative. What can we do to find balance?

Our perception that we are different from Nature has made us orphans from the world around us, and there is despair in that, but also hope, because perception is a thought and thoughts can be changed by direct experience and realization.

We need more than ever, or as much as always, to spend time in Nature. Not just using it for entertainment, but actually allowing it to show us how we are bio-identical, how Nature's elements and patterns are just like our own.

We are Nature not apart from it!

Children are intuitively attracted to Nature. We can all recall significant experiences of our childhood with the natural world. We recall those "places of initiation," in the words of naturalist Robert Michael Pyle, where we first sensed the largeness of the world with amazement and delight.

We can go back to experience play in Nature, as a child, without much thoughts or words,  and lots of permeability. Our skin not a limitation but a continuation of the complexity and beauty of the world around us. Our cells, our bodies contain an ancient memory embedded within us that needs to be awaken. And that awakening begins with INTENTION, our willingness to do it!

So have the courage, or the excuse, to bring yourself and others into direct contact with Nature through play, discovery, art, ritual... and reclaim your place in this world.
